Description

These are Create's heated rods for the Twin Bell Plus hot perm machine, and Create names the Twin Bell Plus as the machine they are compatible with. The range covers nine diameters: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 30 mm. Rods are sold individually, so you can top up the sizes you use most or replace single rods in your set.

According to Create, the rods give off a large amount of far-infrared heat, which the manufacturer links to gentle heating of the hair. Create also says the colour of the band on the rod changes, so you can see when the rod is up to temperature.

Telling them apart from Minimini rods. Twin Bell Plus rods look a lot like Create's rods for the Minimini Multi Perm machines, and Create warns that people order the wrong ones. Look at the top end. A Twin Bell Plus rod has a recessed socket at the top, while a Minimini (Multi Perm) rod has a pointed pin sticking out. Create asks you to check which machine a rod is made for before ordering, even when two rods look the same. These rods are not for the Wave Master either - that machine has its own brown rods.

Colour band by size. The band at the base used to be purple on every diameter. Create has since switched to a different colour per size - red, orange, purple, blue and round again - so on a busy trolley you can grab the right diameter at a glance and sort the rods back after the service. The diameter is also moulded into the body, and the textured surface gives a secure grip while you wind.

Create does not make long rods for the Twin Bell Plus, so plan your winding around the standard rod length when working on very long hair.

For a full service you will also need Create Twin Bell clips, Twin Bell end papers and a hot perm solution such as Beati Multi Silky Glow.

Who it is for

  • Salons that already run a Create Twin Bell Plus.
  • Stylists ordering the machine who want extra diameters from the start.
  • Replacing worn or missing rods.
  • Keeping spare rods of your busiest sizes for full days.

FAQ

Will these rods fit a Minimini or Wave Master?

No. Create lists them for the Twin Bell Plus only. Minimini rods have a pointed pin on top; Twin Bell Plus rods have a recessed socket.

Are there long rods?

Create does not make long rods for the Twin Bell Plus.

Can I order a single rod?

Yes, rods are sold individually and each diameter is its own variant.

How to use

Apply the perm solution according to its instructions, fold a Twin Bell end paper over the ends of the section, wind it onto a rod of the right diameter and secure it with a clip. Plug the rod into the machine. Set temperature and time on the Twin Bell Plus to suit the solution and the hair. After the program let the rods cool, take them out and sort them by band colour.

Choosing a diameter. Create gives no chart matching diameters to hair length. The general rule: a thinner rod gives a tighter, smaller curl, a thicker rod a softer, larger wave. Most heads are wound with a mix of diameters.
