Airafa Himitsu Head Spa salon hair steamer, white or rose gold

The Airafa Himitsu Head Spa is a Korean hair steamer built as a slim cabinet on castors that sends a fine mist onto the hair. The maker calls it the industry's first steamer designed for head spa and sums it up as "No heat, no damage": the hair gets moisture rather than dry heat. For a stylist, it is a way to process perm lotions, colour and treatments in a humid environment at a set temperature.

According to the maker, the mist is produced by ultrasonic vibration with particles of about 3 microns. The maker says this mist gently opens the cuticle, helps products absorb faster and shortens processing, and that moisturised hair copes better with chemical services, so less product may be needed. A microcomputer controls the temperature and, according to the maker, keeps it even. The ozone function, as the maker describes it, speeds up oxidation during neutralising and removes the ammonia smell after a service. These are the manufacturer's claims, not our measurements.

The panel has 4 mist levels, temperature from 40 to 60 °C in 5 °C steps, a timer, an ozone button, three programmes and a low-water indicator. Each programme can be fine-tuned by hand: time, mist and temperature. The hose holder swivels in several directions, and the hose extends from 52 to 102 cm to suit the client's height. The distilled-water tank and drain bottle sit behind a door in the cabinet.

How it differs from the other steamers in our range. The Himitsu is the only one with two steam outlets, A and B, and it uses ultrasonic mist rather than boiling, unlike the Asia Electronics Eco Quick Steamer. Unlike the hood-type Airafa Ion Spa Care and Bella, it delivers mist through a hose under a cap. Compared with the Create Mistimer, it has preset programmes with fixed temperatures. The cabinet comes in two colours, white and rose gold.

FAQ

How many hoses come with it?

According to the maker, the basic set is one holder and one flexible hose. To use both outlets A and B at once, order a second set.

What voltage does it need?

220 V ± 22 V, 50 Hz. In countries with a different voltage or plug type you will need the right transformer or adapter - check before ordering.

What is the difference between white and rose gold?

The cabinet colour and lettering. The maker does not list any difference in specs.

What water should I use?

Distilled water. The maker says the unit should not be used or stored above 40 °C or above 75% humidity.

The maker's three programmes (time, mist and temperature can all be changed):

• Programme 1, straightening and perm: 10 minutes, mist 1, 50 °C.
• Programme 2, colour and lightening: 12 minutes, mist 2, 45 °C.
• Programme 3, treatment: 15 minutes, mist 3, 55 °C.

The hose goes into the holder, and the black rubber connector between hose and cabinet must face upwards. To get a stronger flow from one hose, cap the other outlet. After work, drain any water left in the tank: tilt the unit about 45° towards the drain and wipe the base with a dry towel. Check the drain bottle before every service so it does not overflow.

The maker lists contraindications, including serious skin conditions, pregnancy, wounds on the scalp, high blood pressure, pacemakers, allergies and very sensitive skin. We will send the full list with the manual.
