The Airafa Ion Spa Care S2019 is a Korean hair steamer with a clear hood on a stand: the client sits under the dome while the unit fills it with warm mist. The maker describes it as a negative-ion steamer for perms, colour, coating, treatments and scalp care, in hair salons and scalp care rooms. For a stylist, the hood means the mist surrounds the whole head evenly and there is no hose to keep in position.

According to the maker, water is boiled at 100 °C, and a temperature control system with a special ceramic cap keeps the inside of the hood evenly at 40-50 °C. The fine, micron-sized moisture particles, the maker says, get into the hair and scalp, boost hydration and help the applied product work; it singles out damaged hair in particular.

The key feature of this model is the ion mode. As the maker describes it, steam with negative ions reduces static, cuts down dryness in both curly and straight hair, helps hold moisture and leaves hair shinier and softer.
