Create Wave Master rods, regular and long

These are the rods for the Create Wave Master digital perm machine - the manufacturer states that they are made for this machine. The rod plugs in with the pin at its top, heats up and holds the curl shape while the program runs. The machine tracks the temperature of every rod with its own sensor and shows it on the display.

There are two lengths. Regular rods are 9 cm, with diameters including 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 25 and 30 mm. Long rods are 13 cm, including 18, 20 and 22 mm, and are easier to work with on long hair when a section will not fit on a short rod. They are sold one by one, so you can add sizes to the machine's set or replace individual rods. We confirm the exact size range and availability of each diameter when you order.

According to the manufacturer, Wave Master rods contain hwangto (Korean yellow clay) and give off far-infrared heat while the machine runs. A thin-film heater covers the whole rod surface, so, as the manufacturer describes it, the temperature rises fast and spreads evenly along the rod. Each rod carries a movable silicone ring that shows at a glance that the rod is hot. The body has a fine textured surface, and the long rods also have ring-shaped ridges along their full length.

How they differ from the Create Minimini rods. Wave Master rods are made for the Wave Master machine: the machine has its own heater, sensors and programs, and the rods are built around them. Minimini rods are a separate line for the Minimini Multi Perm and Minimini NX machines, with a dark purple body, a colour band per size and a different size range. Will these rods work with another machine?

Apply a digital perm solution, wind the section on a rod of the right diameter and plug the rod into the machine. Program, temperature and time are set on the Wave Master, which has built-in modes by hair length and condition. The silicone ring on the rod shows when it has heated up. After the program the machine cools the rods with its fan. Use the long rods when the section is longer than a regular rod, winding it along the ridges.
